Curriculum
Gianluca Campi was born in Genoa on 4 February 1976, and at 11 years of age began studying accordion with Giorgio Bicchieri and harmony with Paolo Conti.
At 12 he won the Vercelli International Competition for accordion and subsequently also came first in Italian Championship in Genoa, receiving wide acclaim as well as praise of Franco Russo and the entire jury, made up of experts in the musical field.
At 13 again won first prize in the Vercelli International Competition, receiving the compliments of Wolmer Beltrami, who called him an "enfant prodige" and the "Paganini of the accordion", for his interpretation and love of the violin virtuoso's music.
As a soloist he has perfermod in many theatres, always with the acclaim of audiences and critics alike. In 2000 he won the "Alcobaça World Trophy" in Portugal, as the best accordion player in the "Variety" category.
Gianluca Campi wide repertory ranges from Bach to Albeniz, Adamo, Volpi, Rossini, Khatchaturian, Schubert and, through the accordion, an original and new Paganini.
In his concerts, in addition to classical music he likes to include the tangos of Astor Piazzolla, Hungarian dances, etc as well as some of his own arrangements, always combining technique with a natural feeling for interpretation.
Gianluca recently attended the specialisation courses held by Jacques Mornet and Gianluca Pica in Anagri (FR) and is currently specialising at the APM Music Center. He also collaborates with the chamber ensemble of the "Niccolò Paganini" Conservatory of Genoa and, as a teacher, gives lessons in Alessandria and at the "Francesco Cilea" Music School of Savona.
